Chalke-gate
I attended the debate on Thursday night that was dubbed Chalke-gate. I fully expected to come away frustrated and I wasn't wrong, although I came away more frustrated by the narrow mindedness of certain individuals who seem not to be able to discuss but instead can only attack. My views on the debate that centred around models of the atonement are still formative and being thought through. It was interesting as an observer to notice how the people defending the penal substituti0n model as not presenting a wholly angry God were themselves the most angry people there.
For a full and more elequent analysis although not one that I entirely go along with go to www.sijohnston.info and follow the link to conrad's blog and read the article entitled 'A Bad Night For Excluders.
