Ask, Seek, Knock

What is God like? We get loads of different ideas from the media about the answer to this question. The Simpsons gives us a range of views, from football fan to a bearded dictator. I think that many people have a wrong impression of God, they see him as angry with a big stick to hit us over the head with when we mess up.

Read: Matt: 7:7-12

This passage shows us how God wants good things for all of us who seek to follow him. We see lots of different titles and characteristics of God throughout the bible, father, mother, creator, friend, brother, kind, angry, upset. Each one of these allows us to have some understanding of God and his enormity. The overriding thing that we learn about God is however that HE IS LOVE. He doesn't just love or has love but he actually IS LOVE. What a mind blowing concept.

Pray: Talk to God now and tell him what's on your heart. Spend some time in silence as well and let him move your thoughts to see what plans he has for you. The passage that you read doesn't say ask, seek, knock and you might find. It says v.8

"For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks , the door will be opened."
