Thought for the week

Daniel: Part 2

As some of you know, I'm a person that's always had trouble sleeping. The problem is that my mind is still so active as my head hits the pillow. I had this problem last night, after a nice evening watching a DVD I then had a really interesting conversation with Jo about the future of the Church (that's extremely interesting for people like me). As soon as I got into bed far later than I had planned I knew instantly that this was going to be a bad night. I remember seeing 1:45am on the clock, 3:30 and 5:15 before my alarm awoke me at 8.

Anyway the person we will be looking at in Daniel today King Nebuchadnezzar is a person who was going through the same kind of insomnia that frustrates me.

Read: Daniel 2 (yes all of it, it wont take as long as you might think)

Question: How would you have felt if you were Dan going before King Neb?

Daniel facing an unbelievably bad situation throws himself before God in prayer along with his friends. To Daniels relief God steps in and gives him the interpretation of King Neb's dream and Dan and his friends lives are spared. In impossible situations such as these, this is where our faith is really tested. Dan knew what to do and his faith led him to God where he could have so easily reacted differently.

How would you have reacted if you found yourself in the same situation?

Visions and dreams are ways that we see God use to speak to people at various times in the bible. I believe God still speaks to people today, sometimes he uses quieter and less in your face ways but he still can and does use these things. There have been a few times in my life where God had spoken to me using dreams. The question I'm sure many will ask is, but how do you know it was from God? If any of you are like me your normal dreams make no sense at all, the wrong people in the wrong places and in any I never remember them the morning after. In these cases where I believe God has spoken to me I have remembered the details and the dream was obviously related to a situation that I was finding myself in at the time.

Pray: Ask God to help you to develop your faith. Ask him to help you to rely on him in both the big and small situations that you find yourself in.
