My Secret Is My Silence

I've just come across this performance of in my opinion the best song of 2006, 'My Secret is My Silence' by Roddy Woomble at the Cambridge Folk Festival. You can see my video of the song here from when I saw him on London last summer.

How not to mess up the Great Commission Too Much

Any thoughts?

New Idlewild Video

I've just come across the as yet to be released new single and video from one of my favourite bands Idlewild here. I'm loving the track and it seems to be a return to slightly harder rockier stuff but not quite as much as there first album where as a 16 year old I thought I was going to die in the mosh pit of the Camden Dingwalls (now Jonglers). I've followed Idlewild development and in the last 8/9 years and there journey and maturing of music and lyrics has in some way mirrored the mine.

It's was great to see lead singer Roddy Woomble last summer on his folk tour, but unfortunately I can't make the London Idlewild date. Well hey ho I'll just have to wait for the album.

Hug-a-mania

After Juan Mann's Free Hugs campaign in Australia attracted millions of hits on youtube the times newspaper have re-inacted the campaign in City of London's square mile. A male and female journalist both went out with the obligatory 'free hugs' signs. The article is in today's paper.

You can see their video here, and the original video which I posted here.

Go on give someone a hug today.

Science tells me I like him

I am proud to say that I haven't seen any of celebrity big brother. I do however follow the blog of comedian Dave Gorman. It appears that Dave was on one of the programmes about it sharing his view. I just had a look and even though I don't know many of the house mates i enjoyed as usual Dave's wit (and for people that have seen his previous work) and his graph/chart.

We went to see Dave Gorman's stage show of Googlewhack Adventure as well as some of his DVD's and books. He is a fantastic communicator who knows how to tell a story. I'm very jealous of his skill in this area.

New Year

I'm back at work today after a lovely little break over Christmas/New Year. It was great to spend time with family and friends. Below are a couple of video's from the last few days.

Another fantastic video flagged up by Tony below.

Switch Off

HT to Tony for this video, love it. I'm sure this will be used as some point. I love the subversive nature of stuff like this, teenagers doing good, being models to adults. Wonderful

What's it all about?

I love Radiohead's Just off of one of my all time favourite albums 'The Bends'. The video however still remains a ministry to me. I would love someone to share there wisdom of what they think is going on in it. I find it really compelling and i don't know why, maybe it is that element of the unknown about it. Any thoughts welcomed.

Just for a laugh

For no other reason than it's funny. I love Alan Partridge, why oh why was there not a 3rd series.

No more senseless blog posts for a while, well at least until tomorrow.

Free Hugs

HT to Tony for flagging this up, he seems to be posting some good stuff since he's been layed up injured. I love this video. It made me smile on a dreary Monday morning.

Known Knowns

I was reminded of this piece of brilliance from Donald Rumsfeld after the political events in the USA yesterday. The Daily Mirror today published an 'i told you so' after their headline after the re-election of Bush. They are know claiming that America is coming around to their way and probably a fair few others way of thinking.

Beatbox

So we've all seen young people trying to beatbox, probably some better than others. I walked down the road the other day and heard some boys practicing. It turns out President Bush is getting down with the youth.

True Beauty

I love this wonderfully provocative video by Dove that a few people have flagged up recently. I used it last night and it does prove to be a good discussion starter. I'm sure i'll be using it again as it is very powerful.

Unbelievable Misses

Thanks for the link Andy. Someone has obviously been watching me play recently. I'm sure i've missed some bad ones over the years but i'm not sure if any are as bad as these ones.

Coffee

ok sorry for the abundance of posts today, i thought i'd post this before i forget about it. I have one of those 10 mins before the start of a meeting where starting a new task doesn't seem worthwhile.

I remembered how great this video of Blur's Coffee and TV is the other day. I was reading something the otherday where someone was thinking about the Christology of this vid. I guess it was something about restoring relationships. Watch the whole of the vid right to the end i think it's quite interesting. I reckon i'll use it next week for a session on the prodigal son, although obviously not an exact illustration but i think it brings may highlight some good stuff.
