Thought for the Week

Well Happy New Year to any of you I haven't seen yet. Just to remind you that thought for the week is a place for young people that I work with or anyone else that happens to pass through my site. Its purpose is to give people a chance to interact with and think about God at the start of the week or whenever they happen to online. It is possible to write any thoughts or comments that you may have by clicking on the comments button below this post. I hope that God will use this to help us all to develop our relationship with Him.

Read: 1`Corinthians 9:24-27 (get that bible off the shelf and have a read of this)

What's it all about?

I'm training for the London Marathon at the moment. I've discovered that firstly, I'm not as fit as I thought I was and secondly when I'm out running I can't go full speed all of the time. Running needs discipline, discipline to get up and get running on those cold, wet mornings and discipline to pace myself when I run. Discipline is often seen as a negative word but I don't think it has to be like that. Paul (the guy writing this letter) talks about how he has to beat his body into submission. His mind wants to do one thing but his body wants to do something else. I often find it difficult to find time to read my bible, my brain wants to do it but my body just wants another 30 mins in bed. This is when discipline kicks in, the more you do something, the easier it gets to do it. The bible is like a manual for how to live life so its pretty important.

Do:

At the start of this new year I want to challenge you and me both to spend time with God reading the bible and praying to Him. If you don't know where to start with either speak to me and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

Pray:

Ask God to help you to get into the bible and to teach you from it.

Have a great week
