Thought For The Week

Hi all, it's mad how fast time goes by. It's Monday afternoon again and time to share another little thought with you.

As many of you will know i'm getting married to Jo in May, which is also coming round really quickly. The thing about weddings and relationships are that they are based on love. Love is a hard thing to understand, so hard in fact that there are 4 words for it in Greek. These 4 words which i wont attempt to remember emphasise different types of love. These include romantic love, love for parents and friend etc.

I know that Jo and me are in love (ahhh), but a lot of the time i'm not very lovable and sometimes i'm not very nice to be around. Love is however unconditional, no matter what i do or whatever Jo does we still love each other. The same is true with God, there is nothing, read that again there is nothing that you can do to make God love you less.

Do: Log onto
www.athlete.mu and have a listen to a song called 'You Know' in the audio section.

The song starts off by telling us that we are loved. It goes on to say that its no good always trying to figure everything out in our heads but sometimes we need to realise that there are many things that we wont figure out. The lyrics say 'you can't count it on your fingures coz there's much too much for our little minds to deal with', 'give it up lift your hands'. What i think this song shows us is that we can try to answer lots of questions about God and make belief an exercise that happens in your head only, the problem is that compared with God our brains are tiny. A relationship with God does involve your brain but more importantly it's about your heart, it about how much he loves you and also how honest you are with him. There's no point trying to hind things coz he made you and knows everything about you.

Read: 1 John 3:16 (that's how much he loves you)

Pray: Tell God all the things that are on your mind that are worrying you. He knows them but he wants you to talk to him about them. He loves to hear from you and is never too busy for even the smallest things.
