Finding my feet

No I haven't literally gone on a crash diet and found my feet.

I have however now been in the job for just over 2 weeks now. It's been a really positive start on the whole with lots of meetings with various people involved in youth work all over N. London and further a field.

Was at a training morning yesterday with a schools work organisation who I am going to be working alongside. They had a really good guy called Victor Lorenzo there who spoke about faith. He made a lot of points, not all of which I could get completely because of his Argentinean accent. One that I did get was about how God reveals things to us on a daily basis but we must firstly be in tune with him and secondly must be prepared to have faith and do what doesn't always seem to be the most obvious and often isn't the most comfortable thing. The interesting point that I haven't completely processed yet was that he said that in his opinion the opposite to faith is memory. He pointed out that it is often memories of past experiences that stop us from following what God wants.

Hi there, good to find your blog via Levs. Thought I'd leave a comment! You said you were still thinking about the faith/memory thing so I thought I'd chip in. Really not convinced about memory being opposite to Faith! It seems to me that God spent a lot of the Old Testament instituting festivals of reminder because Memory is key to Faith. That is remebering how God's faithfulness was experienced in the past is key to a current step of faith.
